If it is added in the database, but not linked, it could report as "unlinked", but if the scan reveals a valid filename that isn't in the database, it might report it as "orphaned" or "not added yet" or something similar. I'm sure a proper workflow would help in avoiding this, but I fear I'll never have that while adding tons of media at once.Ī tool located in the admin/media area similar to the "create missing thumbnails" tool would be helpful in finding all of the stuff left to do. I'll add the images to the proper places in my /media/ directories, but never can add them all (creating links/mids) using one session, so I wind up picking it back up a few days later not knowing how far I made it through my task. My reason for asking is that I often go on trips and scan in lots of images. Is there a tool for finding unlinked media files? I was browsing through the tables looking to see if I could find a flag of some sort, or perhaps a missing piece of data where a linked one should have it. I tried to change the design of the default page of my familytree and followed the instructions of bertkoor in this forum. I tend to take a historians viewpoint and want to record communities of people and have opened up to the idea of relationship genealogy rather than family genealogy.I apologize in advance if this is already somewhere in webtrees stable or in the svn. Some recording genealogists are very happy with going up the father lineage and stopping, others only care about blood and don't record adoption and "half cousins". DomainMOD also includes a Data Warehouse framework that allows you to import your web server data so that you can view, export, and report on your live data. One of the most interesting discussions in genealogical gatherings is always the question and definition of "Genealogy" and where does one stop adding people. DomainMOD is an open source application written in PHP & MySQL used to manage your domains and other internet assets in a central location. I understand you hesitancy for allowing non-blood or non-family individuals into your database. I don't want to design the form because this is not my strong suit. This Help forum is for issues relates to webtrees 1.7. do we treat this like adding a child to the individual with a full Individual form, or a abbreviated Name only form. ![]() That being said, I personally agree that some form of forced adherence to data entry standards for the associate name would also be appropriate, but the question becomes how much additional information is required? So. Is there a tool for finding unlinked media files I was browsing through the tables looking to see if I could find a flag of some sort, or perhaps a missing. So this function would be appropriate for anyone entering data just as they would be allowed to enter a child to a married couple or a second wife to a man. I agree with Greg's definition of an "associate" as not being completely unlinked. IMHO, associates are a different case to the "unlinked individual", as it is not completely unlinked. I would not allow completely unlinked individuals (in a networked database we called these "Orphan Records") to be added by regular users, keep this function "as is". If we think the current situation of allowing only admins to add unlinked INDIS is valid (I do), then this option should only be available for admins as well. ![]()
